Statistic

I hate statistics. I hate being made one and I hate when I wind up turning a friend into one.
Here is a statistic: Bill Clapperton has an 45% chance of getting killed in a 5 car pile up accident. This statistic would be based upon the idea that the 5 car pile up just so happens to be in his path on the way home. But he drives in a 4 lane highway. He may miss it completely making it a 4 car pile up...he may be involved but not seriously hurt. He may have taken a different way home. The chances are very slim that his is one of the 5 cars in the pile up. He could still be in it though.
I think the fact of the matter is that statistics like that give a cold discription. Here's another one. So many number (I haven't look it up, I just know a number exist and it changes every year) of marriages end in divorace. If you're married, it's a good chance that your marriage is one that will. Or it won't.
In the end, a statistic is just a number that stands for a possability or a probability. The final outcome isn't based on numbers. It's based upon what the person does and what others do. And that's why I hate statistics.

Werewolves of Berlin

So, I've started reading this book called the Mammoth Book of Wolf Men. It's an anthology of short stories all about Werewolves. The first story, which I haven't gotten a chance to finish yet...mostly because I'm a slow reader...is called Twilight At The Towers. The basic concept is that, during the Cold War, werewolves were used by the USSR and the Western World. But it takes place in Berlin...it was in the 1980s and I'm not sure which side of the wall it's on...but I assume West Berlin because the main charicter was from U.K.
Anyway, I've had with me to read today but I left it in the car so I won't get to finish it.
But in relation to books and reading, I'm loaning one of my favorite books that I've ever read, The Accidental Time Machine by Joe Haldeman, to Nifer. She's reading a book (well, 3-4 books now) a month as part of a New Year's Resolution. I don't know if she'll like it or not. But it was one of few books that I could not put down at all. And that's saying a lot. So naturally, I want to share it. I'll be loaning it to her tomorrow when I go to my Saturday afternoon workshop.
Speaking breafly of Improv, we had a 92 Monsters rehearsal Thursday night. It went pretty well. That, unfortunately, doesn't say much because anything could be better than our last show. The problem with our last show back in November, from what John said, was a lack of listening mostly. Unfortunately, we weren't able to watch any of it to mention specifics.
Anyway, the Improv Jam is tonight at 9pm!

Saturday! Wow!

Okay, so apparently, I haven't updated this blog since very early Saturday morning. News to me. I could have sworn I had since then. Okay, well, Tuesday, I saw the doctor because of my sinuses...again. And he gave me some antibiotics...again. Anyway, antibiotics mess with my eating schedule. I think I actually had an alergic reaction to something I ate this morning. But it could have just been my imagination because everything was fine after about 15 minutes. What was weird was that I was watching STAR TREK...the new one...and imagining my hands swelling up like James Kirk did in the movie. They didn't. But I pictured it happening.
Also, speaking of allergies, the doctor told me to go back onto Alegra-D. This required a perscription refill which had to be authorized...and the doctor wasn't in his office today.
Also, I've got some books I want to start reading. My resolution for New Years was to read...and finish 3 books this year. Some of those 3 would be ones that I've already started...for example, I want to finish I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD: THE DIRTY LIVES AND TIMES OF WARREN ZEVON. I also have a book that is a prequel to Terminator Salvation that I want to read...I also want to finish the Cronicles of Narnia and start reading the complete Hitchhicker's Guide To The Galaxy. Oh, and this Wolf Men book I got from Barns & Nobels late last month. Oh well, we'll see what I actually do.

Skynet Hot Chocolate

This will be breif for the most part. For starters, I was in a show tonight. It was the mystery show that we rehearsed for on Thursday night. It went really well...though there were a few lagging "hic-ups" (I'll call them that) that usually come with the first show of a new format. But they were overshadowed by a good show in the over all. Like actual hic-ups needing water or something to get over, these are things that we can improve upon as the show continues. I won't go into detail but there was something I did that made sense at the time but really seemed random and incoharent when looking at it in hindsight. It could just be me. But the audience enjoied it.

NOTE TO SELF: A narcaleptic is someone who falls asleep a lot and not someone who steals something all the time. Just saying for future reference.

Also, I expierenced with my tastebuds tonight and ordered a hot chocolate from the Roving Imp coffee shop that was a Skynet. A Skynet (taken from the Terminator series) is an espresso with carmal, white chocolate and vanilla mixed in with it. But I had mine as a hot chocolate in the place of an espresso...and loved it.

It's a Mystery

Okay, so the group that was going to perform Friday night this weekend at the Roving Imp...High School Showdown Reunion...backed out. So John put up a mystery group for the first 5 to respond...and we had a rehearsal tonight....for the show tomorrow. You're going to have to see it to know what's going on.
Oh, and on facebook, all the women were updating their status with what seemed to be random colors. They were giving the color of their bras to support brest cancer or a cure or something along those lines. I suggested that on Friday, they should post as a status update the color of their panties to support cancer of the cervix. It gets the same about of work done...just as feminine...and I know someone who went through that particular cancer. I don't think it will work. But I don't understand how the color of the bras would do anything...October is brest cancer awareness month. But the cervix doesn't get it's own cancer awareness month. I don't know why.
I'm just saying.

A day out/A day home

Tuesday, I did a lot of running around in the afternoon. I started by dropping off some things for my family at the insurance office. Then, I went to Wal*Mart and got myself some nice dressy shirts for when I'm in shows at the Roving Imp (bright yellow long sleeve...I have a short sleeve...and a mint green one). My desire to get these shirts is because I had a white one and a blue one (that were long sleeve) and a bright yellow shortsleeve one. I also have a red Hawaiian shirt...but that was for Improv Survivor which had it's last run in September so I probably won't wear it for a show again for a while. While I was there, I also got a pair of lounge pants. I also got Land Of The Lost on DVD which, for the record, I did ask for for Christmas. Then, I drove out to the Roving Imp Theater and Coffee Shop to get a "White Hot Chocolate" (it's hot chocolate but with some white chocolate sauce mixed in...it wasn't as sculding hot as "White Hot" sounds). I paid with a check which allowed me to get 1 size bigger than I had usually been getting.

Side Note: I think this was actually the best hot chocolate I had gotten there. Either Nifer has gotten used to how I like my hot chocolate...since she has usually been the one working the cash register when I get one...or the larger size than I usually get allowed the whole mix to move in perfectly where it needed to go. (Anyone reading this, especially John and/or Nifer, please note that I said this and have this in writing).

Anyway, when I left the Roving Imp with my hot chocolate, I proceded to the Johnson County Library main branch. When I didn't find what I was looking for there, I went to get gas (to prepair for the snow storm) and then on to the Antioch branch. When I didn't find what I wanted there, I went to the Shawnee one. The Shawnee one had what I was looking for but in a high school reading section. It's Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. It's supposidly the exact same story but with a study guide in the back for high schoolers. On Monday nights after workshop, the group at the Roving Imp is reading this book. I had to leave early last Monday but I want to get caught up so that I can join them next Monday. I finally got home sometime after dark...and it was about 2pm when I left the house.

Wednesday it snowed. I started off the day doing laundry and eating breakfast while watching STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY. It's been awhile since I've seen it. But one thing I've noticed is that the guy who played Odo in STAR TREK DEEP SPACE 9 was in this movie...not as Odo...as a human. But now, he's been edited out somehow. What his charicter did at the end is still there, but every thing else was edited out of the movie...no, I don't know why...almost makes me wonder if Ethan Phillips who played Nelix on STAR TREK VOYAGER was edited out of the reissue of STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT. But I digress myself.
Anyway, I also tried to call a friend of mine who I haven't seen in a while. It's his birthday. But of course, I couldn't get a hold of him. Other than that, it snowed...and I need to shovel the snow so that I can get out tomorrow night and go to rehearsal at the Roving Imp...and my grandma has to go to the store during the day...
I'm tired of snow. I wonder how much it would cost to move to Hawaii but to visit back here on weekends so I can see shows at the Roving Imp. If I had the money, I'd go for it.

I Haz Title

Well first, the weekend update:
Okay, well, it snowed Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday morning, I shoveled snow in hopes of making it out to Bonner Springs for Nifer's improv class.
NOTE: I've been doing more snow shoveling this winter than eating food...or so it seems. If I loose weight this winter, that's why.
It was just Chris and myself in class. So Nifer had us do some warm up games and then just hang out. By the way, we have a show scheduled. We were going to do some games but it was because we were having some regular members...who haven't been coming since the show was planned...but we've had a lot of snow since then so that could be the case. Anyway, the show has been postponed until mid to late February.
Monday, I had class...but before leaving for class, my mom came home from work and told me that she wants me to drive her to the airport on Sunday...and some time during the 24 hours of Sunday...she'll find out later...because she's going to Albuquerque, New Mexico for 3 weeks. This of course means that she'll be missing 92 Monsters...as well as Robot Parade and Arnold...and if my mom misses it than my grandma will be missing them.
Anyway, when I got out to class, I got there early enough to get a hot chocolate...I was Nifer's 5th customer...and the 5th one today. It opened today at 2:30pm and will be open every Monday-Friday from 2:30pm to 1am. The weekends have a different schedule. It's at the Roving Imp website at http://www.rovingimp.com/ if you want to check out the schedule.
Anyway, we have once again practiced with an organic opening. We did this on Saturday as well. And I hate this to no end. I personally have no problems doing weird things with my body (I did do the whole head shaking thing of "Rightiouson's Disease") but it requires you to go where everyone else goes...but sometimes, they see something you don't. At one point, we were in a desert looking for water. Then we were at an oasis. It turned out that we were at a pool orgie. I didn't pick up we were at an orgie...but I was thinking pool...so I did a canon-ball. I figured it was a pool orgie when I started getting jumped onto. We did this Saturday and I had about the same kind of trouble then as I had today. But there only 5 people in class on Saturday and there were 9 people in class today...and trying to match the same mindset as 4 other people is hard enough.

Stupid Snow

It snowed a-effing-gain. Ugh. At least I was able to go to workshop and see the shows. But I had to leave early because of the stupid snow (by the way, I don't hold back on facebook, I say how I truely feel. I try to keep this blog family friendly so it doesn't get flagged). It has snowed soooooo much and I can't take any more.

Busy week

Okay, so I got a shovel Saturday but wasn't able to get snow boots due to a lack of boots either in my size or that were not leather. I did however get some more stuff.
Monday night, I decided that I still need to find a balance in my "yes...and"ing between logic and whacky.
Wednesday, there was a work day at the Roving Imp. I helped take out the 3 rows on the left side nearest the doors leading to the lobby. By the end, the chairs had to be pushed and pulled manually to get the screws out. The floor beneath the carpet may be a mess. More on that when someone acutally looks.
Thursday was New Year's Eve. I went to a New Year's Eve/White Elephant gift exchange. I took Twister, Major League II, and Ghostbusters on DVD and I got a helmit with 2 drinking sides.
While we were sitting around, we talked about life goals for 2010. Someone suggested I need to sotp being so self depricating on myself. I've also decided I want to read more with a plan to have finished 3 books by the end of the year. Well see when December rolls around how close I am to fullfilling that idea.
Friday night, we got together at the Roving Imp and watched a movie called about these 2 improvisors in Chicago...their day...and then a show. I called it a docu-prov.
Anyway, that's it for the week. Happy New Year!
